Butterfly Ball Light by Diffuse Lighting

Butterfly Ball Light By Diffuse Lighting

When I was 12-years-old I showed my 14-year-old cousin the newest silhouettes I made out of a department store catalog. This was the wrong thing to do on a summer morning. It marked me as a weirdo for the rest of the summer. She was more interested in the latest boy band. Boys? What are boys? I was 12.

Now I feel vindicated that I  kept my papercraft hobby into adulthood and I am really digging one particular trend in lighting. Danish lighting sculpture that looks like papercraft. Remember paper dolls? Admittedly, this is far more advanced. The light displayed above is made out of X porcelain butterflies.  Diffuse is not the only lighting company that is producing lighting fixtures of this kind. Tord Boontje also showcased a metal garland light that is just as dynamic and delicate.

Filthy Friends’ Songwriter Corin Tucker Identifies with The Underdog Photo Credit: American Flag, Crying Child and Rotting Fruit by Unsplash         They say that, professionally speaking, it is difficult to review an artist of whom you are a fan. It compromises your objectivity and makes you an unreliable source of authority. Well, in the spirit of […]

3 Female DIY Interior Design Bloggers Aunt Renee Admires

By smartygirl on October 15, 2011

My interest in reading interior design blogs written by women with children began with one blog post perfectly suited to me, “Tentacle Pot Pie“. Notmartha.org Blogger Megan Reardon won me as a fan with her unusual presentation of conventional recipes such as meatloaf. She shapes unassuming meatloaf into oven-crisped amputated hands. Her chicken pot pie […]
