When I read on Facebook that storms are coming this Saturday for Los Angeles, I woke up early to slow cook pulled pork with white pepper. Why? I associate rainy days with white pepper seasoned comfort foods.

1/2 TB paprika
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp white pepper
3 lbs pork shoulder
6 cups water
1. Brown pork with fat side down in tall stockpot.
2. Add seasoning and liquid.
3. Cover and simmer for 3 hours or more until pork shreads easily.
